Karolyn Kirby played on the WPVA tour for all of its eleven seasons.
She was league MVP or Co-MVP four times.
For many years she was the "winningest woman" in beach volleyball,
with 67 event titles, until surpassed by Holly McPeak in 2004.
She still holds the record for domestic wins (61).
Kirby and Masakayan held the women's record for most
wins by a team (29 total, 26 domestic) until they were
surpassed by Walsh & May.
Karolyn Kirby and Liz Masakayan took the gold medal in women's
beach volleyball at the 1994 Goodwill Games in St. Petersburg,
the first time beach volleyball was included as a medal sport
in an international multi-sport competition.
Karolyn played collegiately at Univerisity of Kentucky and Utah State,
and played for the New York Liberties in Major League Volleyball 1986-87.
